Group work this week…
Monday
Science/Art – Solar System Book – Jupiter – We learned all about the largest planet in our SS and the first of the gas giants of the outer planets
Art – Papier Mache Helmets – Students put another layer on their helmets
Science/Art – Paint Asteroid Belt – Students painted the sandy asteroid rocks that they made last week
Tuesday
Literacy – Guided Reading – I worked with students one on one, developing reading skills
Math – Top it! card game – Students played a version of the card game War. Playing with a partner and each with a deck of number cards, students compared numbers and the higher number got to keep both cards.

Field Trip to Marriott Theater
Thursday
Math – Probability Vocabulary – Throughout JK we will use the words likely, unlikely, impossible, possible.
Science/Art – Solar System Book – Saturn – Referred to as the “princess of the solar system”, we learned that Saturn’s many rings are made of ice…that is why we can see them from so far away, the sun reflects light off of the ice.
Read-Aloud – Wacky Wednesday by Dr. Suess – I’ve never met a 4 or 5 year old that does not love this book.
Friday
The Story of Thanksgiving – We talked about why American families celebrate this holiday. We read Thanksgiving Day by Ann Rockwell.
Song – Alberquerque the Turkey – We learned this silly song about a pet turkey.
Math – Thanksgiving headband patterns – Students used shape stencils to create a pattern for their Native American headband.
Space Fashion Design – Jupiter & Saturn – Students designed costumes for the planets Jupiter and Saturn
